In 2017 election of Solududhkunda Municipality (Solukhumbu district), candidate Namgel Jangbu Sherpa of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,751 (38.16%) votes out of total votes of 7,209 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Ang Igele Sherpa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,601 (26.11%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,857 (12.88) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Kalpana Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,760 (39.30%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Chuldi Lhamu Sherpa of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,717 (27.77%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 1,546 (11.01) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 201 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 119 (59.20%) males and 82 (40.80%) females. Moreover, there were total 42 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 40 females and 34 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
