In 2017 election of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality (Solukhumbu district), candidate Ashim Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,512 (33.80%) votes out of total votes of 7,431 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Hut Raj Basnet of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,324 (23.37%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,595 (17.46) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sabita Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,580 (35.42%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Menuka Puri (giri) of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,269 (23.00%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,436 (16.72) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 155 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 90 (58.06%) males and 65 (41.94%) females. Moreover, there were total 33 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 55 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 29 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
