In 2017 election of Pathibhara Yangwarak Rural Municipality (Taplejung district), candidate Keshar Kumar Subba of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,517 (51.17%) votes out of total votes of 4,919 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Bahadur Limbu of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,181 (29.33%) of votes. The rest of 1 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 221 (2.25) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Ran Maya Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,474 (57.79%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Netra Prasad Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,547 (22.90%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 260 (3.04) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 86 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 56 (65.12%) males and 30 (34.88%) females. Moreover, there were total 19 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 33 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 15 females and 13 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
