There were 36,811 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Surkhet District, Constituency No. 3. The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) - Nara Bahadur Bista secured 17,429 (47.35%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Nava Raj Rawat of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 10,896 (29.60%) votes and came in second position.
