There were 29,886 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Kathmandu District, Constituency No. 3. The candidte of Nepali Congress Party - Chakra Bahadur Thakuri secured 12,966 (43.38%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Rameshwor Phuyal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 9,549 (31.95%) votes and came in second position.
