There were 38,538 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Dang District, Constituency No. 1. The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) - Indra Jit Tharu secured 18,093 (46.95%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Khum Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress Party who secured 10,175 (26.40%) votes and came in second position.
